Updated: Public Health Sudbury & Districts to provide COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits
Issued: Wednesday, July 5, 2023To support ongoing access to COVID-19 testing, rapid antigen tests are available for free to people throughout Public Health Sudbury & Districts service area. Tests are available to individuals at high risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19, including persons who may be eligible for COVID-19 treatment. These kits will be available beginning today and through the fall of 2023, free of charge, at most office locations.
The kits may be picked-up in the reception area of the office locations listed below during the office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some offices are closed for the lunch hour (noted below). Office locations include:
- 1300 Paris Street, Sudbury
- 10 Elm Street, Unit 130, Sudbury
- 34 Birch Street (entrance on Lorne Street), Chapleau (closed from noon to 1 p.m.)
- 800 Centre Street, Unit 100 C, Espanola (closed from noon to 1 p.m.)
- 6163 Highway 542, Mindemoya (closed from noon to 1 p.m.)
- 1 King Street, St. Charles (closed from noon to 1 p.m.)
There are two publicly-funded types of COVID‑19 tests available in Ontario:
- Rapid antigen tests: these are available for free to people at high risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19, including in high priority communities and people eligible for COVID-19 treatments. - Molecular tests: These include polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and rapid molecular testing. These tests are available to individuals who have COVID‑19 symptoms and who belong to certain groups.
