Alcohol

This report draws information from the Canadian Community Health Survey where alcohol consumption or use means having had a ‘drink’ or “serving” defined as:

• one bottle or can of beer or a glass of draft, or
• one glass of wine or a wine cooler, or
• one drink or cocktail with 1 and a 1/2 ounces of liquor

Alcohol has been divided into three categories:

• Heavy drinking
• Exceeding the Low-Risk Drinking Guidelines
• Youth alcohol consumption
