Mobility
This section describes the people that have moved from one residence to another and those who have not moved during the last year or during the last five years. The following terms used in the tables are defined as the following:
- Non-migrants are persons who did not move or persons who did move but remained in the same city, town, township, village or Indian reserve.
- Migrants include internal and external migrants who moved to a different city, town, township, village or Indian reserve within Canada.
- Internal migrants are those who moved from a different city, town, township, village or Indian reserve within Canada.
- External migrants include persons who lived outside Canada one year ago.
- Non-movers refers to persons who have not moved
- Movers refers to persons who have moved from one residence to another. Movers include non-migrants and migrants.
- Mobility status, one year’ refers to the status of a person with regard to the place of residence on the reference day in relation to the place of residence on the same date one year earlier.
- Mobility status, five years’ refers to the status of a person with regard to the place of residence on the reference day in relation to the place of residence on the same date five years earlier.
Highlights
- Within Sudbury and districts, in 2016, there was a slightly lower proportion of individuals who had moved 1 year ago (11%) compared to Ontario (12%).
