Income
This section describes the before-tax incomes of the Public Health Sudbury & Districts’ population for various family types. It also describes the prevalence of low income and the composition of family income. For more definitions, please see the glossary or Statistics Canada’s Census of Population 2016 Dictionary.
The average and median income for Public Health Sudbury & Districts area overall is not available and cannot be calculated from aggregate income data from Census Divisions (CD) due to different population sizes in each Census Division. The following tables present information on both average and median income because median income is not impacted by extremes, such as a few individuals with very high incomes.
Highlights
- Overall, individuals residing in Greater Sudbury had a higher median income before-tax than Ontario overall. However, the median before-tax income was lower among those residing in Manitoulin District compared to other areas within Sudbury and districts and Ontario.
- Across all CD there is a large difference between males and females in median individual income before-tax, but there is less of a difference in the Manitoulin District where males’ median incomes were much lower than the other two Census Divisions in the Public Health Sudbury & Districts service area.
