Daycare telephone extension
June 9, 2021
Dear Child Care Centre Operator,
Public Health Sudbury & Districts continues to strive to support local child care centres in the most effective and efficient means possible throughout the pandemic. With this in mind, Public Health now has a dedicated telephone extension for child care centre staff to call if they have questions related to managing or preventing illness within their centre. In general, child care centres should not report all instances of ill individuals in the child care setting to Public Health. Daycares should call Public Health Sudbury & Districts at 705.522.9200, ext. 393 or toll-free 1.866.522.9200 if:
- they are of the opinion that an individual may have COVID-19 or should be self-isolating (e.g. awareness of child or staff being diagnosed with COVID-19, exposed to a case of COVID-19, having traveled outside of Canada in the last 14 days)
- they have been made aware that a child has been diagnosed with a reportable disease
- they have questions about the management of individuals with symptoms
- they have questions about environmental cleaning or other infection prevention measures
- they are reporting an unusual number of ill children within a group
Please note that should a case of COVID-19 be identified within your child care centre, or an outbreak be declared, that a separate extension will be provided to you at that time. If you have any further questions, please also visit our COVID-19 page for information on symptoms, self-isolation, and where to get tested for COVID-19.
