Boil water advisory lifted for residents of the Town of Killarney

Public Health Sudbury & Districts has officially lifted the boil water advisory that came into effect December 7, 2024, for residents of the Town of Killarney.

Public Health Sudbury & Districts issued the boil water advisory because of a potential risk to the drinking water supply.

“The bacteriological quality of the water supply has been tested with no adverse results being reported,” said Burgess Hawkins, a manager in Public Health’s Health Protection Division.

After a boil water advisory is lifted:

  • Run cold water faucets for 5 minutes or until the water runs clear.
  • Large-volume users (for example, schools) may need to run cold water taps longer on first use.
  • Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.
  • Drain and refill hot water heaters set below 45°C.
  • Discard water filters that were used during the advisory and replace with new filters.
