Board of Health appoints Chair, Vice-Chair, and members to standing committees
Issued: Friday, January 17, 2025The Board of Health for Public Health Sudbury & Districts held its first meeting of the year on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at which time officers were elected and new and returning Board members were welcomed. Mark Signoretti and Mike Parent were elected as Chair and Vice-Chair, respectively. René Lapierre who served as Chair of the Board of Health for the past decade also announced he will be resigning from the Board following February’s meeting.
“Throughout his service on the Board of Health, René has dedicated himself to championing Public Health’s mission and vision. His unwavering support, advocacy for health equity, and focus on the community have guiding the agency with steadiness through difficult times,” said Dr. Mustafa Hirji, Acting Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive Officer for Public Health Sudbury & Districts. “It was a true pleasure to work with René, and we thank him for sharing his energy, unique perspectives, and valuable contributions over the past 10 years,” said Dr. Hirji.
“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have served on the Board of Health and contributed to creating healthy communities,” said René Lapierre, Chair, Board of Health for Public Health Sudbury & Districts. “This has been meaningful work, and I’m especially grateful for being surrounded by like-minded Board members and Public Health staff who devote themselves to community service. It has been a privilege to collaborate with our community’s leaders, partners, and allies,” said R. Lapierre.
The 2025 Board of Health for Public Health Sudbury & Districts includes elected and public representatives from communities across Greater Sudbury and the districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin. Members are committed to improving opportunities for health and creating healthier communities for all.
