FOR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION

Applications to participate in the Universal Influenza Immunization Program are now being accepted

Please be advised that the application process for pharmacies and other organizations interested in participating in the 2024-2025 Universal Influenza Immunization Program (UIIP) is open from May 17, 2024, until June 30, 2024. The application process for the UIIP also includes questions on pharmacy participation in the COVID-19 vaccine program.

Each year, the UIIP offers influenza vaccines free of charge to all individuals six months of age and older who live, work, or go to school in Ontario. Pharmacies and organizations can apply to participate in the UIIP and administer vaccines to the public. Pharmacists can only administer publicly funded influenza vaccines to people two years of age and older.

New: Administration to residents of long-term care homes

Starting this fall, pharmacists can now administer publicly funded influenza vaccines to residents of long-term care homes. Pharmacists must store, transport, and administer their own supply of publicly funded influenza vaccines.

Pharmacists cannot

Pharmacies are encouraged to work with long-term care homes to explore opportunities to partner for administration of publicly funded influenza vaccines to long-term care home residents.

Applications

Applications must be submitted to the Ministry of Health by any pharmacy or organization that would like to store, handle, and administer publicly-funded influenza vaccines during the upcoming season.
