The Drug Toxicity Crisis: An environmental scan to inform the Greater Sudbury Summit on Toxic Drugs (2023)
This Environmental Scan examines the available data on local drug use and toxicity in Sudbury and districts; literature on demographic, societal, and systemic factors that contribute to drug use and toxicity; emerging evidence on best practices to prevent and reduce harms; and existing local community services and supports.
This environmental scan is one tool to help inform conversation among local leaders, people with living and lived experience, and other participants of the planned drug toxicity summit. While reviewing this report, it is equally important to acknowledge that data and evidence in this topic area are still emerging and that grey literature and perspectives from people with living and lived experiences are a timely and essential component to further guide conversation and understanding of the current context.

Needle and Syringe Programming within the City of Greater Sudbury (2023)
The Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) is part of a larger harm reduction program offered by Public Health Sudbury & Districts (Public Health). NSPs are a central form of harm reduction for individuals who use substances and support community safety.
These programs distribute sterile needles, syringes, and other drug-use materials. These programs reduce the sharing and re-use of needles, syringes, and other supplies and reduce improperly discarded needles and syringes in the community. With an emphasis on evidence-informed practice, this report explores Public Health’s role in delivering harm reduction and needle recovery services in Greater Sudbury.

Supervised Consumption Services Needs Assessment and Feasibility Study (2020)
The Community Drug Strategy for the City of Greater Sudbury undertook a study to determine the need for and the feasibility of implementing supervised consumption services (SCS), in Greater Sudbury. The study took place between April 2019 and June 2020.The findings of the Supervised Consumption Services Needs Assessment and Feasibility Study concluded that the City of Greater Sudbury would benefit from supervised consumption and treatment services and that these services may be a feasible strategy for the City of Greater Sudbury to address the significant and growing health impacts associated with substance use.
