Boil water advisory lifted for residents of Foleyet

Public Health Sudbury & Districts has officially lifted the boil water advisory that came into effect July 21, 2024, for residents of Foleyet.

Public Health Sudbury & Districts issued the boil water advisory because of a potential risk to the drinking water supply. The water has since been sampled and tested to ensure its safety.

“The bacteriological quality of the water supply has been tested with no adverse results being reported,” said Burgess Hawkins, a manager in Public Health’s Health Protection Division.

After a boil water advisory is lifted:

• Run cold water faucets for 5 minutes or until the water runs clear.
• Large-volume users (for example, schools) may need to run cold water taps longer on first use.
• Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.
• Drain and refill hot water heaters set below 45°C.
• Discard water filters that were used during the advisory and replace with new filters.
